Time to start again

Well it has been a while since I last posted and decided it is time to start again.

Chacha (as Isa calls her and now as she refers to herself) is 14 which means we are starting to have a look at her transition into adulthood and more importantly adult services. It is a very scary prospect and I feel totally un-prepared largely down to me.

We have had an inital meeting with the school and connex to establish a "Here we are and this is what we want". It went well in many respects but there is still much to be discussed and still so much unclear. At the very least we were able to make the point that for Chacha to stay with either of us is not an option.

Now this seems very cruel on the surface of it but in the long run we feel it would do so much good to get out and her own (well with a lot of support). The last thing we want is us in our 70's trying to look after her in her 40's. Seems really unfair to her.

So big things are a foot I will keeo you posted.

Me help !!

Well the new arrival hasn't damped C enthusiam for her little sister. She is a little frightened to touch and stuff but we are OK with that. I gues it shows that she appreciates that Isa is small and delicate. However try and stop her help around the edges, including nappy changes.

In the morning we come down to find Changing map, wipes, nappy sack and nappy already for the baby change. She is now trying to help take of or put back on any clothes we need to remove during the change.

We have had to take her hearing aids out at home since the frequency Isa cries at is about the same as the "Oh Bugger that hurts" setting on the aids.

She also reads to Isa which is exercise for both of them.

Big Sister

Well we are now 6monthes down and I got say that Charlotte is very excited at having a little sister (probably). She has grasped the concept that Mari is having a baby and she is looking forward to changing and feeding the baby. (and will find nappies... dirty..)

Every time she sees something baby on the telly she says so "Sweeeeeeet, for baby". Not really sure we can afford all things on the telly but it is nice she is thinking of her. We will see how she feels when the baby is crying at 3am :-)

Mari you are getting big

Well it has been a while since my last past. Charlotte is safely installed in big school. to be honest the move wasn't that bad for her as she just basically moved up stairs in the school. Seems to be well.

Still not having much luck in some of her development especially around personal hygiene but only in one are and seems to be because she is lazy rather than not being able to do it.

The other big news for those not following the other blog is that she will have either a small brother or sister (God willing all goes well)

High school

Yep my little girl actually starts high school in September (or Secondary). I am not allowed to call her "Baby" or "my little Girl" any more. Instead she prefers to be know as "Big Girl" or "Princess" but it does depend on who calls her what.

After an initial hic up, where she seemed to go back wards in certain areas of development, we seem to be back on track. She is growing up to be a nice sensible young lady. Even enjoying taking time out on her own to go and play in her room.

Only seems like yesterday I held a 5lb8oz tiny bundle with a tube in her nose, wondering what the hell the future has install. In truth I still don't know but I have enjoyed the ride. Can't wait to watch her grown even more and whatever the future brings, it will bring.

The review

It is that time of year again today. Big C's annul review of statement. Regular reader and colleges will know this has in the past been like pulling teeth ans emotional draining. However since she has moved to Addington it has been a breeze and a pleasure. The focus is very much on her and not what the school should be doing to focus on her. Man we tried hard to keep her in mainstream bu the the truth she is so much better at Addington. She has grown in confidence and maturity. The argument will rage for many years about to mainstream or not but I have to say I am happy where she is. A school that is geared up to look after her and her needs.

The Bat suite

..... Turned out the be a pair a of purple shorts with zips. Now I am no Doctor but I am not really sure how these are supposed to help. I imagined a kevlar composite of black shiny armour to help correct my babies posture....... yes I even imagined a utility belt (we can all dream) but shorts... really.

However in the true nature of Britishness we will give it a go and see what happens.
