Well reading the memory keepers daughter has certainly hit a chord with me. I think I mentioned before that some of the emotions portrayed have certainly made me think about things in the past and the rawness of the emotion.
Well I am getting to the end of the book and it has opened a whole can of feelings I was not ready for. Perhaps as the big C is still only 11 or because I have not wanted to think about it. SPOLIER ALERT - in the book the young girl has now grown up which have lead to a couple of situations.
Whilst on the bus she is invited back to look a man's birds. She says she has to ask her Mum but it is clear that this is Pedo and he has other things in mind. I find that totally scary. I know there are people like that out there and the worst thing is they pray on kids like that or rather kids in adult bodies. Can we teach C to identify these treats and avoid them.
She has boyfriend and wants to get married. Not as scary as above but still room for thought.
I guess what I concluded is that it is I that is scared. Not for her but for me. Will I be able to let go. Will I be able to support her let her make mistakes. It is so difficult planning the future but would you do that normally. Probably not. We have to let her grow and then support what she decides and help to achieve the targets she my aim for.
As a farther of a rapidly growing young lady with downs Syndrome I wanted to share some of my stories. The Good, the bad and the Ugly if you will.

Good Morning eeerrr no
So my beautiful baby girl got herself all dressed and ready for school yesterday morning. Including putting a lovely clip in her hair. Shame it was at 3.30 in the morning.
I was woken to Mrs H going "What is she up to". After stumbling down the stairs. I was greeted by Little Miss C in her school with a hearty "GOOD MORNING" to which I replied "Eeeeerr NO it is too early". "Oh" she said. So we got her beck in her PJ's and back to bed. Where she dropped in and out of sleep. Blesss

Silly Aunty Nanna
It is amazing how far C has come in the last year and the things that she can do when not watched. On Sunday I ran Mrs H up to Aqua fit as it was raining very hard and went and picked her up again. While I did that Ori (Aunty Nanna) sat with C. When we got back we expected yet another DVD on but we were wrong. For you see after her DVD had finished C decided that her and Aunty Nanna should play on the Wii.
Now although she has got better at selecting the games she has trouble turning it on and fiddling the TV to make it work. However she has now sorted this all out. So her and Aunty Nanna could play Bowling. Unfortunately aunty Nanna is not that games savvy and struggled with how to do it so C played both characters.
